Technology is wonderful

In recent news, I finally broke down and bought a HDTV. This replaces my 15 year old Sony - it has a great picture, however, my satellite dish fee would nearly double to take full advantage of the picture quality. Hmm. Currently shopping between dish companies, as well as Cable to see which offers the best bang for my buck. Amazing the price of being lazy and being spoiled by way better picture resolution. I need to ride more and quit sitting on my arse after work.

This got me thinking about the land line. $40-50 wasted for nought. I have a cell phone and a cable modem – I realized long ago that I do not have much use or need for the home phone line. I finally broke down today and waited on hold for 20 minutes to kill the AT&T money pit. Figured out it would pay for the HDTV upgrade and then some. As a last minute ditch effort, AT&T offered bare bones, basic service for $20 a month (with the $6 discount). I politely declined.

Think I will invest in a calling card from the gas station if I truly get desperate or I lose my cell phone.
